Westover Spring Luncheon at The Truitt House
Some gatherings just feel right from the start—and the Westover Garden Club’s spring luncheon is always one of them. It’s our final meeting of the year, and always my favorite. There’s no program, no presentation—just a table full of beautiful salads, a house full of friends, and the simple joy of being together.
This year, I had the pleasure of hosting at The Truitt House. Thirty members gathered on the most gorgeous spring day. The doors were open, the breeze just right, and the house quickly filled with smiles, laughter, and the warm kind of chatter that says you belong here.
Everyone brings a dish. It’s part potluck, part art show—each salad a little masterpiece. And as friends make their way through the buffet, find their seat on the terrace or in a sunny room, and catch up on graduations, vacations, and family news, I can feel the energy in the house shift. The volume rises, laughter spills from every room, and my heart can’t help but smile.
In moments like that, I know we’re doing our job—not just as hostesses, but as friends, neighbors, and stewards of the communities we love.
The Westover Garden Club is made up of women from all walks of life. Some are in the full swing of their careers, others have stepped into a new season—one of grandbabies, travel, and well-earned rest. But no matter our stage in life, each of us shows up with a heart to give back. At this particular meeting, we take time to discuss the needs in our community and select one to support. The conversation is always tender and hopeful—a reflection of the care and commitment that defines this group.
Hosting this kind of event is my sweet spot, every time. There’s something about a shared meal that levels the playing field and pulls everyone a little closer. No matter how different our schedules or where the summer takes us, the table has a way of gathering us in. It feeds more than just our appetites—it feeds connection, laughter, and a sense of belonging. As we wrap up the season, I’m grateful for afternoons like this one—where the stories flow as easily as the tea and the beauty of community is felt in every bite.
